Hi, Iā€™m Pete!

I am obsessed with useful plants, and how to connect people with the design and planning skills they need to create an environment that supports a high standard of living, based on healthy land and water.

Whether in the field, a small yard or the design studio, I'm always thinking about how we can use what exists to inform what the landscape evolves into. This is good design.

There's a designer in everyone. I'm here to guide you to that place within yourself.

I've always been fascinated by nature, and how humans connect and co-create with it. In my first year of college studying ecology, I came across the book 'Forest Gardening' by Robert Hart, and it changed my life forever.

Imagine being able to create a landscape that not only has beauty and provides habitat for wildlife, but also offers substantial products for humans!

This led me to get my Master's in Landscape Architecture from the U. of Michigan, which allows me to lead property owners through a professional design experience that results in clear, tangible solutions to problems such as erosion and poor drainage, how to make an income from "marginal" lands, and creating habitable spaces and systems that integrate with nature at both small and large scales.

Some call this permaculture, but what I do is way beyond that. I bring out the designer in everyone, and help to build ecological literacy where other designers might act the "expert", hand clients a plan and walk away.
